Materials Testing & Research Center / Orton 材料試驗服務及熱分析研究中心 The Refractories Testing & Research Center (RTRC) is an independent research and referee testing laboratory. It is operated by the Edward Orton Jr. Ceramic Foundation, a nonprofit organization providing products and services to the ceramic and materials communities since 1896. RTRC is a full service independent, nonprofit research and testing laboratory that specializes in measuring the behavior of refractory ceramic materials. Physical, thermal, and mechanical property measurements are available for performing product development, quality control and failure analysis. Consulting services on refractory and other ceramic materials are also available. Orton also works closely with other organizations for testing and consulting services not available in its laboratories. Initially established in 1917 at the Mellon Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Center was run by The Ohio State University, in Columbus, Ohio, from 1965 to 1990. The Edward Orton Jr. Ceramic Foundation assumed responsibility for the Refractory Research Center (RRC) in 1990. The Center is staffed with engineers and technicians who understand and are responsive to the needs of its customers. Standardized procedures are employed on calibrated equipment. New and existing tests, in conjunction with the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM), are continually under development.
